D20Monkey launched on October 4, 2010.

In the nearly nine-years since that day, I have written jokes, created characters, imagined worlds, and told stories that I love with all of my heart, but every story has an ending and as I sit here working on Season 10 of d20Monkey, it is time to look to the future.

Season 11 will be the final season of d20Monkey.

The finale will arrive in 2020. In the months to come, I will be wrapping up all of the plot points, tying up the loose ends, and building toward the finale that brings the series to a neat and tidy 10 years: A solid decade of comics that I can be proud of.

The end is still a year away, but I wanted to announce this now to prepare everyone for what is coming. This does not mean that I am leaving comics. I just recognize that I have changed as a creator since that fateful day in 2010, and I am ready for the next challenge. I want to reach out and try something new. I may very well revisit d20Monkey in some form in the future, but for now, I want to put everything learned over the years into new projects in comics and tabletop gaming. I want to wade back out into new and scary waters to see what is out there and know if I can create the content I want to create. Sam and Brett will always be a part of me, but it is time to see what comes next.

I will be collecting the series into new PDF books for each season, I will still be very active in the tabletop community, and I will still offer up the occasional gaming strip on Twitter when I have a joke I need to get out of my head. I love gaming too much to leave it and I will still be here.

So, what IS coming next?

It is time for the ladies of the Innsmouth Garden Society to have their own series.

The new IGS series will launch in 2020, after the finale of d20Monkey and I will be releasing teaser images, sketchbooks, and details on the series over the course of the next year through Patreon and here at d20Monkey to keep everyone up-to-date on what is happening behind the scenes. The series will focus completely on the adventures of the Innsmouth Garden Society and the world of cosmic horror, madness, and gallows humor they live in. Horror and dark humor have always been a part of the stories I create, and with the IGS series I intend to dive straight into the deep end of that dark, unexplored pool to see what I can find.

I hope that you will follow me out there.

I know that a favorite series coming to a close brings a feeling a sadness. As a fan of comics, books, and television myself, I feel it in my bones. It is a heavy feeling of disappointment, but on the other hand, I love a great finale and I will not disappoint you. All questions will be answered. There will be epilogues. There will be closure (possibly with an eighties music soundtrack playing over it).

Thank you for reading this. Thank you for understanding that I need to bring this chapter to a close and begin a new one. Thank you for being my Buckaroos.

Love you all.

Brian
