Let’s dive straight into where we are with d20Monkey’s schedule and few other things happening over here behind the scenes.
TL;DR – I am catching up and d20Monkey will be back soon. Don’t worry, despite currently living near the bottom of my well and fighting some things, I am working and completing commitments. I miss my characters and I am ready to get back to telling their tales.
I will be working to catch up on all of my Patreon commitments. They are behind at the moment and I want to fix that quickly. I will and I will get ahead of schedule.
Speaking of ahead of schedule, when d20Monkey returns, I have planned a few changes and new approaches to presenting things. Once we reach the end of the current Karthun arc, I will be shifting this series over to a seasons format. Updates will still land on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday but I will be writing for overall season story lines. All this means is that I will have defined “season premieres”, story arc, and “season finales” to each season with a week or so of sketches and behind-the-scenes preparation material for the next season to show everyone what goes into making d20Monkey happen.
That is a huge priority for me: I want to have a buffer of strips and ensure this does not happen again when life rears its ugly head.
It is doable.
Why? Here is part of the good news: I am making enough monthly revenue from Patreon supporters, my online store, a (more selective) handful of freelance projects, and my new position as the Artist in Residence for Evil Hat Productions to keep the bills just paid. So, I am avoiding the pull of full-time work back at a 9-to-5 for now. It feels good but it is still a fight and I am still swinging haymakers.
That Evil Hat gig, though? Yeah, it’s pretty sweet, right? They are a great group of folks and I am happy to be in there, helping to make new games. I will be handling some small ad/art gigs for them and working as an art director over on their Fate Worlds & Adventures line. It is another way to flex my creative muscles and it gives me a chance to work for talented artists.
I have another project in the works but I will keep that mum for now. More soon. I leave it all to you to speculate wildly.
Thank you all so much for being patient and understanding while I keep wrestling this Robeast tag team of Stress and Depression, respectively.
I’m human and I am trying.
